Last year the Irie Jamboree was cancelled due to financial constraints due to the recession, artist visa cancellations and/or incarceration, and location curfew. Rumor has it that Bobby Clarke, CEO of Irie Jam Media is gearing up for a huge line up of all-star performers and an all-round new approach for a new concert, Reggae Rhythm & Blues!
“There’s a well known adage in the Caribbean that “if America sneezes, the Caribbean gets a cold”. This has never been more severely evidenced than over the past few years as the economic recession being experienced by the U.S. economy has had a grueling disproportionate effect on the diaspora Caribbean community,” stated Bobby Clarke last year.
While Clarke said he was not at liberty to disclose any details earlier, it has been confirmed that this year Reggae Rhythm & Blues will take place on September 4, 2011 with confirmed “heavy weights” in the entertainment industry:
- MAVADO
- TARRUS RILEY
- BABY FACE
- MACHEL MONTANO
To add fuel to the rumor, Clark recently said, “We all woke up to the news (recently) that Mavado had secured his visa, and was in fact in the USA. I can tell you we have already spoken to Mavado’s manager Julian Jones Griffith numerous times about booking him for our event. He definitely is interested in performing.”
Clarke further indicated he is reaching out to other dancehall performers, “I have personally called Beenie Man to get more information about his visa situation. The fact is that the Visa situation is a very fluid matter that can change at any time, so all cards are on the table. We are talking to Jr. Gong about performing. Tarrus Riley is still hot and Freddy McGregor is a solid performer as well.”
Will you be attending Reggae Rhythm & Blues?

I keep hearing the ads for this but there is no mention about where to get tickets. The ads mention the website http://www.iriejammediagroup.com but the website doesn’t seem to exist.
