Entertainer Ravi “Ravi B” Bissambhar has been charged with encouraging supporters to throw missiles onto the stage during a performance almost six months ago.
A summons was issued for the lead singer of the band Karma, to appear before a San Fernando magistrate on September 27. The charge was laid by ASP Carl Ramlal, following instructions by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Bissambhar was interviewed by police officers four days after the alleged incident, which reportedly occurred during the Chutney Soca Monarch final after-party on February 19, at Skinner Park, San Fernando.
He walked into the San Fernando Police Station, with his attorney Sophia Chote, and gave a statement, police said. A file was compiled and sent to the office of the DPP.
Ravi B, who has been condemned for his alleged actions, was dethroned by five-time Chutney Soca Monarch Rikki Jai, who took home the $2 million first prize.
Bissambhar placed second and won $100,000. It was during his performance after the results were announced that he allegedly told the crowd to pelt something on stage if they were unhappy with it.
