Internationally renowned Reggae artiste, Miguel Orlando Collins, more popularly known as Sizzla Kalonji, has finally been released from a Kingston-based hospital nearly two weeks following a serious motor cycle accident in St. Ann.
Sizzla was involved in a crash on August 24th in Runaway Bay when his bike collided with a bus that tried to overtake him. The bus caused Sizzla, not wearing a helmet during the accident, to swerve and his motor cycle slammed into the bus; throwing the entertainer off his bike. The bus driver involved in the accident reportedly refused to stop to avoid getting caught. He has yet to turn himself in.
Sizzla was later taken to the St. Ann’s Bay hospital for emergency treatment; suffering many broken bones including a broken collarbone as well as internal bleeding as a result of a ruptured liver. The following morning, Sizzla was airlifted to an unidentified Kingston hospital for further treatment and to allow the “Solid as a Rock” singer privacy to heal. Eleven days following the accident, Sizzla Kalonji was released from hospital on Sunday night and was said to be in good spirits.
He’s reportedly not 100% as of yet but will take some time to rest at home until he’s regains full strength. Sizzla’s family and management team remain thankful for the mass support of fans & friends within the Dancehall/Reggae industry through the entertainer’s ordeal. Sizzla is known for various classics such as “Black Woman & Child,” “Praise Ye Jah,” “Thank You Mama” & “Just One Of Those Days” amongst others. Additionally, Kalonji unveiled his 65th album, The Scriptures this past June. – Marc Parc
