Top Model Trinidad and Tobago 2010 Crystal Noreiga was awarded a five-year management contract with Elite Latin and South America at the Elite Model Look World Final in Shanghai, China, on October 6.
In an unprecedented move she received the contract four days before the World Final from John Bilboa, director – Elite Latin and South America.
According to the terms of the contract, Elite’s Miami Office will be the T&T model’s international agency while Coco Velvet International will continue to manage her career as her mother agency from its base in Port of Spain. It is hoped that she will have representing agencies in New York and Paris from next January. Crystal’s first modelling assignment with Elite is the upcoming New York Fashion Week’s Fall-Winter Collections; she will spend one month in New York from January 10, 2011.
Seventy-one models from around the world competed for 15 contracts with Elite Model Management at the brand new, swanky Grand Melia Hotel in Shanghai from October 1 to 10.
The Caribbean was represented by models from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and T&T.
Christopher Nathan, national director – Elite Model Look Trinidad and Tobago, accompanied the T&T representative to the contest. He joined the other Elite agents from around the world to form the evaluation jury which selected the top 15 models and the three winners.
The evaluation jury is a compilation of Elite’s top international agents who are specialists in their respective markets. The representatives come from the fashion capitals of the world; they are responsible for the development and management of some of the top professional models working internationally.
The last T&T model to compete at the Elite Model Look World Final was Marsha Alexander – Trinidad and Tobago Top Model 1999 in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2000. She went on to do fashion collections for top international fashion labels including Oscar de la Renta’s Fall-Winter 2000 Designer Collection in South Beach, Miami.
Elite Model Look is the largest international model search covering over 50 countries and 350 000 applicants worldwide.
Models from 70 countries competed at the 2010 World Final for lucrative modelling contracts with Elite Model Management. Elite has launched the careers of many of the world’s top models since the agency began operations in 1971, including Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and more recently Adriana Lima and one of the highest paid models in 2009, Gisele Bundchen.
Denisa Dvorakova was photographed for the cover of Italian Vogue by one of the world’s leading fashion photographers, Steven Meisel, within six months of winning the international final. She has since appeared in international campaigns for Prada, Calvin Klein, Chloe, Dior and Chanel. The Elite Model Look international contest has been held in some of the most glamorous and exotic cities in the world including Paris, New York, Nice, French Riviera, Ibiza, Singapore, Shanghai and Acapulco.
