The artiste, whose real name is Windel Edwards, was questioned in connection with the recent shooting death of a music producer at a recording studio in St Andrew.
Gyptian was questioned in the presence of his attorney Peter Champagnie and was later released.
Davian Bailey, was shot dead when gunmen invaded a recording studio on Dumbarton Avenue, on September 12 after a heated argument between Gyptian and DJ Frass.
Peter Champagnie has stated, “Gyptian was never detained or arrested. The police have been questioning a number of persons which include and is not limited to Gyptian. He was advised by the police that they needed to speak with him and so he went in and was questioned in my presence.”
According to police reports, about 5:45 p.m., a group of men, armed with guns, entered the recording studio and opened fire hitting Bailey multiple times.
It is reported that the men escaped in a white Honda motor car.
The police were summoned and Bailey was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The police have theorised that Bailey’s killing stemmed from a dispute that took place earlier at the studio.
Investigations are ongoing.
