Embattled Grammy-award winning reggae star Mark “Buju Banton” Myrie now known as inmate number 86700-004, will serve his ten year prison sentence at the Limestone County Correctional Institution in Groesbeck, Texas.

After being in “transit” for months, Banton was finally flown from an Oklahama holding facility to Limestone this past Friday.

Banton has been bounced around in the penal system since February. He initially spent time at the Pinellas County Jail in Tampa, Florida then spent over a month at the Federal Transfer Center (FTC) in Oklahoma City before being sent to Texas.

Buju was found guilty of drug related charges and sentenced to ten years. He has since maintained his innocence. Meanwhile, his attorney David Markus is in the process of filing an appeal.

The superstar’s release date is February 1, 2019.
