Lead singer and 2011 Power Soca Monarch Finalist, Michelle Xavier aka “Michelle X” parted ways with her former band, Imij & Company to pursue a solo career.
“Imij & Company has been like a family to me for the last 10 years. Without them, I could not have matured on stage to become the artiste I am now and I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today. I will always be grateful for their nurturing care, guidance and support, but now, after 10 amazing, fulfilling years I have decided to pursue a solo career.”
Meanwhile, Imij & Co. quickly enlisted the vocals and star appeal of Jamie La Borde to replace Michelle Xavier as the lone lead female vocalist. Along with her addition comes Stephan Subero, another talented singer to the group.
Led by veteran musician Joey Ng Wai, Jamie and Stephan will join Ricardo Drue and Hilton Dalzell in the band’s frontline.
With the countdown of the 100 days of Christmas well on its way, and Carnival 2012 in hot pursuit, Imij & Co will augment its voices occasionally with its long-standing US-based original frontliner Russell Cadogan. Jamie’s sidekick, Stephan, who has previously performed in Venezuela, brings to Imij & Co another dimension in its repertoire—the new wave of Reggaeton and Soca-influenced rhythms.
Congratulations to all! JAYBLESSED.com wishes you the best!
