President of the West Indian American Day Carnival Association, Inc. Of New York, Yolanda Lezama-Clark, has called it quits, New Americas has learnt.
Lezama-Clark quit yesterday, Dec. 22nd. She has been heading up North Americas largest carnival in Brooklyn, NY for 10 years. No reason was given for the resignation beyond that she is “tired.”
Lezama-Clark will most likely be replaced in the post of the non-profit by the vice president of the association. WIADCA was founded by Lezama Clark’s father, Carlos Lezama in 1967, who nurtured the organization and carnival celebrations until 2001, when, due to his ill-health he retired and his daughter, Yolanda Lezama-Clark was elected president.
Her resignation from the post comes on the heels of Facebook postings by several members of the New York Police Department about the carnival and carnival goers. In the postings, the cops referred to West Indian carnival goers are “animals” and “savages” and said they should be bombed.

I wonder if Briding Newell will be the new President, though Ken Faustin is listed as Vice President of WIADCA or if they will actually hold public elections?
Hmmmm….

Who says there isn’t a Santa Claus?
In your comment, you wondered if Ms. Briding Newell will take over the helm. In my opinion, she was the only one very vocal in her position in defending WIADCA. I do believe she was honest in doing so and must be given the opportunity via, an election. If she does not want the position, then she too also must resign. Until they find the right person after placing ads, in the daily news publications, for an experienced, well qualified executive in the areas of reconstruction and running a non-profit organization according to its charter. especially in the areas of finance.
He or She must be well versed and must be able to make strong and compelling statements for good governance in and out of WIADCA and not just be another rubber stamp for photo opps with politicians who showed their concern in the pictured shown. As they say. A picture speaks a thousand words, and in this picture it shows, she was either told/forced to resign. Immediatelt by the higher up and they are all shocked by it.
I only hope they don’t bring in the Wyllie Lynch syndrome to make matters worst
Having found new leadership, the 1st objective is to fire the organization’s PR firm and there is more! Stay tuned on facebook. “West Indians For A Better Parade”
Open the books! America is ready for a woman president! Vote America!

Congratulations! I am sure that you speaking up against their non-action dealing with the cops Facebook postings had something to do with it. In politics, there’s no such thing as coincidence
