Fire destroys family home of Soca singer Destra Garcia.

Soca Singer Destra Garcia and her family escaped tragedy last night when a fire blazed through her parent’s home in Laventille, Trinidad.

There was only loss of things and not of life. Everyone escaped danger.

When I reached out to Destra, she was still very much distraught over the loss of the home she grew up in.

“Not sure what to say right now…I mean this is the house I grew up in. I’m there almost everyday, that’s home. Its almost completely gone,” said Destra.

But not to sound completely down, she firmly stated, “I’m glad everyone got out, God continues to be good to us. My sister, brother and granny lost everything but we still have each other.”

And in closing, Destra the Laventille girl (and not the diva on stage) sent her love to everyone that came through with support, “I am deeply moved by the love and concern I have received from my fans. Also I must applaud the Laventille community for being great neighbours.”
