Self proclaimed King of the Dancehall, Beenie Man, will be featured on the reigning Queen of Rap, Nicki Minaj’s upcoming album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
The two Caribbean stars, who met at last year’s Reggae Sumfest, have reportedly collaborated on the track “Gunshot” which was recorded in Jamaica at Gussie Clarke’s Anchor Recording studio. Minaj was not in Kingston to record her part of the track but was very much involved in the recording process.

“I was supposed to have gone to LA (Los Angeles) to record the track. She sent her vocals with two of her representatives from her record label and we went to Anchor and I did my verse,” said the deejay. “She was on the phone basically telling us what she wanted.”
Beenie Man described the song as a club banger. “This song can run the Caribbean and the world. It’s basically dancehall meets hip hop in 1980′s style,” he’s stated.
Beenie Man has recorded songs with many American female recording artistes including Mya (Girls Dem Sugar), Janet Jackson (Feel it Boy), Angie Martinez and Lil Kim. The most successful of those collaborations has been Feel it Boy which peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2002.
Nicki’s debut album, Pink Friday which released in November 2010, sold two million copies in the US.
Gunshot is among 19 tracks on the standard edition of Minaj’s sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded which is due for release in the United States on April 3.
