Ah yes Bajan massive, it’s time for the Crop Over 2012 tunes to start dropping! I don’t know about you, but I’ve always been a big fan of Soca music from Barbados, and even though they don’t seem too welcoming of us Jamaicans to their island  - wait, did I say that out loud? – they surely do welcome our musical influence, as evident by the first Crop Over 2012 entry,  the King Bubba & Gorg produced Blue Diesel Riddim.

With a bass line influenced by Shabba Ranks 1997 tune “Swarm Mi,” and a most delightfully uptempo bounce, Blue Diesel is a kick-ass Dancehall-Soca riddim. Trinidadian Soca Star Bunji Garlin’s “No Worry Bout Me,” “Throw a Tantrum” from Crimeson, and “Leggings and Jeggings” from Bajan champion Lil Rick are sure to be summer club bangers, but I’m not sure how any of these tunes will do on the Highway – Blue Diesel isn’t your typical “wuk up and whine up” Soca riddim.

…but I surely dig it.

Below is DJ Puffy’s Blue Diesel Riddim Mix, featuring:

“Bounce to This” – Answar
“Up In Dey” – Big Red
“Throw A Tantrum” – Crimeson
“Leggings & Jeggings” – Lil Rik
“No Informer” – Gorg
“Now Worry Bout Me” – Bunji Garlin
