In case you missed it, Kernal Roberts, the son of legendary Calypsonian Lord Kitchener, has stated in a recent interview with Metro Magazine that the soca Road March for 2013 is already written!

Kernal is one of Trinidad’s most prolific songwriters with five winning road march songs and three Soca Monarch wins under his belt.

“In the last seven years, I won five road marches. My father had 10. We going to match that and beat that. I am not bowing out. I really want someone to beat me cause that will mean the standard has improved. We are not bowing out on excellence,” he said.

Road March wins
• 2006: Band of the Year (Machel Montano and Patrice Roberts)
• 2007: Jumbie (Machel Montano)
• 2010: Palance (JW and Blaze)
• 2011: Advantage (Machel Montano)
• 2012: Pump Yuh Flag (Machel Montano)

When told by critics that his 2012 Road March song “Pump Yuh Flag” was utter nonsense, he eloquently replied, “I knew I had a sh*t song but I knew my sh*t song had the resources to make it. It had real sh*t out there but my sh*t was better than all the rest. Plus I had the best jockey on the planet in Machel.”

Roberts also spoke on his relationship with friend, buddy and pal Machel, “We share the same passion for music and the industry and we real intelligent alike.”

And what about his boast of the already written roach march for 2013?
