Triple award winning Jamaican sensation and son of the late Bob Marley, Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley is the talk of the town after an absolutely superb performance at the inaugural Foods, Arts and Music Festival held at the Providence, National Stadium, Guyana as part of their 46th Independence celebrations.

Jr. Gong took patrons on a musical journey belting out classics such as “Beautiful,” “Road to Zion,” “Land of Promise,” “It Was Written,” “Disappear” and many more. His performance was electric! With a flag bearer that never got tired, a band that was definitely feeling the vibes and backup singers who doubled as dancers, the energy on stage was a true reflection of the energy in the crowd. The much anticipated “Affairs of the Heart” sent the crowd wild especially when Gong stated, ‘Man hold yuh gal and hug up tight.’

In the middle of his performance he invited on stage with him … Wayne Marshall!!!!! He came out to a screaming crowd and sang a few of his hits and then went back offstage. We didn’t mind his brief performance at all but we were thrilled to see him.
What is a Jr. Gong performance without him paying homage to the big man himself, the late, great and well respected Bob Marley? He took us back in time and sent the crowd Marley crazy with “Could You Be Loved,” “One Love” and “Natural Mystic.” Lighters up! Flags up! Hands up!

The young and the old alike were ‘scanting’. Damian Marley did not disappoint. He is a true class act!
Can’t wait for him to return to Guyana!
