Have you heard of Shaun Escayg?

The Trinidadian filmmaker recently earned the admiration and respect of famed director Steven Spielberg during production of the blockbuster movie, Transformers3: Dark of the Moon.

Escayg animated the popular character Bumblebee and when Spielberg saw the early work done by Escayg he openly expressed how impressed and excited he was.

Though that is only part of his personal success, the filmmaker has made it to the top 50 finalists in the world for the International Your Film Festival with his dramatic short film, Fish.

The R-rated Fish was written and directed by Escayg and explores the criminal underworld in Trinidad and the Caribbean. Fish is, in a nutshell, dread and not for viewers under 18-years-old.

On June 11, YouTube and Emirates, in partnership with La Biennale di Venezia (the Venice Film Festival) and Scott Free, announced the 50 semi-finalists in the Your Film Festival competition – a global search to find the world’s best storytellers. Scott Free had the difficult task of narrowing down more than 15,000 submissions from more than 160 countries across the globe.

It is now up to the YouTube community to view and vote on the semi-finalists at youtube.com/yourfilmfestival thus helping decide which 10 filmmakers will attend the Venice Film Festival and compete for the $500,000 grand-prize.
