Veteran reggae singer Richie Stephens has teamed with cultural DJ Louie ‘Gangalee’ Culture and producer Bobby Digital on a hot new Jamaica 50 tribute song called ‘Come To Jamaica 50.’ The song which was written by Stephens and Culture was released this week on the Pot Of Gold record label.
The original ‘Come To Jamaica’ song and video which was released in 2007, was used to promote the ICC Cricket World Cup. The song was endorsement then by the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and Air Jamaica and was eventually used by the Board in their marketing campaign to promote Jamaica in the Diaspora.
“The new song is a feel good, tribute track for Jamaica. It really tells the story of Jamaica and the successes we have accomplished over the years,” Stephens said.
“Bobby Digital did an excellent job with the production, while Louie Culture gave the song a special type of musical vibe that can only be described as magical. I feel we have a great song that could become an anthem for Jamaica, as we countdown to the 50th Anniversary of Independence,” he said.
Irwine Clare who serves in the capacity of Advisory Board Member of the Diaspora U.S. North East Advisory Board said, “It is a consistent norm for Richie Stephens to do this and we here in the Diaspora are heartened and delighted by this song which so truly captures our fervour and patriotism. Congrats to Richie for his steadfast support of Brand Jamaica. He is truly our musical ambassador to the world!”
The award winning Stepehns, who has topped the charts this year with hit singles ‘Live Your Life,’ ‘Warrior,’ ‘The Gospel Medley’ and ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ featuring DJ of the moment Konshens has been a brand ambassador for Jamaica for many years. He is a talented performer who has contributed much to the development of reggae music locally and internationally.
