Uprising Roots, the five-piece Rastafarian outfit, has landed a distribution deal with VP Records for their 2011 album Skyfyah.

Publicist Bridgett Anderson said she was elated at the deal and such a move would extend the fan base of the group.

“It is hoped that this relationship will assist in expanding the reach of this talented group of musicians,”
Anderson said in a release.

Darren Hamilton, band manager of the East Kingston-based group, outlined the agreement.

“They [VP Records] take the album on consignment and sell/distribute throughout their stores/network,” he said.

He said that this is the first agreement of this kind with a major distribution outlet for the band. The album, however, is also available online through Zojak Worldwide distribution network.
