Dancehall singjay Serani has made a major move in his career by leaving DASECA to form his own label, Rockstone Media.
Serani, born Craig Marsh, who co-founded DASECA along with former partners, David and Craig, has made it known that the split was an amicable one.
“I’m one of the founding members, Daseca has been around for 11 years and I recognise that my partners Craig and David, have grown substantially. I wanted to give them room to spread their wings. They are talented brothers and very good friends of mine,” said Serani.
(The name Daseca represents the names of all three members – David, Serani and Craig.)
The artiste emphasized that this split may not be forever, but that it was best for all involved to go their separate ways at this time.
“I’m not saying it’s gonna be a split for good, and at this point if people want to continue to get top-quality work from all of us, then this is best. If they send me a rhythm, I’ll voice on it,” Serani added. According to Serani, he was not sure if they would change the name of the group.
“I don’t know if they’re gonna change the name but it wouldn’t make sense. The name Daseca means unity, that is the meaning we assigned to it. If they need me, I’ll be there and if I need them, I know they’ll be there,” he said.
Serani is now focused on his newly founded Rockstone Media Label. The label recently signed this year’s Magnum Kings and Queens winner, Deep Jahi.
“As the name suggests, rockstone means we are solid. We’re gonna be putting out solid productions and solid artistes. We recently released Deep Jahi’s single Punching Bag under the label. The song was produced by Tiarro. Big up Tiarro, a talented engineer. Look out for more good work from me and Deep Jahi,” Serani said.
