Miss China, Wenxia YU, has won the title of Miss World 2012 in a spectacular ceremony that was held this morning at the Dongsheng Stadium, Ordos, China.
Sophie Elizabeth Moulds of Wales copped first runner up and Jessica Michelle Kahawaty of Australia secured the second runner up spot.
Yu, 23, is a music student who says she wants to become a music teacher. She is the second Miss China to be crowned, the first was in 2007. Wenxia was crowned by Miss World 2011 winner, Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela.
Miss Jamaica, Deanna Robins, was the only Caribbean contestant to make it into the top 15. She did Jamaica and the Caribbean proud by securing a spot in the top seven. Robins was named one of five continental queens at the Miss World 2012 pageant.
Miss Jamaica was one of the favourites to win; she placed in the top 10 of the Beauty with a Purpose competition, the top 10 in the Miss World Top Models competition, second in the Talent Show competition, 2nd runner up in the Sports & Fitness competition and she made it into the semifinals of the Beach Fashion competition.
Although, she didn’t win the crown she has surely made the region very proud!
For the first time 116 countries participated in the Miss World pageant.
