The Caribbean has long been known for it’s literary geniuses in the form of Samuel Selvon, John Hearne, Edgar Mittelholzer, V.S. Naipaul, Earl Lovelace, Derek Walcott and George Lamming, to name a few.
There is a new generation of writers, who while treading on similar turf, are embarking on a different literary path.
Meet romance author Heather Rodney-Diaz, who recently released her debut spicy novel Island Pursuits.
Island Pursuits is a spicy, multi-cultural romance set in Trinidad and Tobago based on a military themed that also highlights family, friendships, tragedy, loss and forgiveness.
Living in Trinidad all her life was indeed the author’s motivation for writing this super-sexy island escape. She wanted to showcase the islands of Trinidad and Tobago to the world.
Heather Rodney-Diaz is a past student of the then Couva Government Secondary School and a Journalism / Public Relations graduate of the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT).
Bored out of her mind after having completed three years of tertiary education, the novel was inspired by a newspaper article she had read.
When former U.S. Marine Adrian Mendez decided to return to his beautiful twin-island homeland of Trinidad and Tobago in the southern Caribbean, he didn’t expect to find the woman of his dreams. But one chance encounter with the captivating Cory Phillips was all it took. Adrian quickly realizes once just isn’t enough with this beautiful but feisty island goddess.
Headstrong and set in her ways, Cory struggles tremendously with the military stereotypes of the island. But when this gorgeous, sensual—and deadly—soldier offers her his help, how could she resist him? After many sultry and pleasure-filled steamy Caribbean nights with Adrian, Cory finds herself going against everything she once believed in.
Their lustful island pursuits lead to a sizzling romance in paradise—but what they both discover about the past threatens to destroy any chance of a happily ever after. Can their love survive this tropical turbulence even as danger and deception lurks?
Island Pursuits is published by the U.S. based Crimson Romance, a Division of F+W Media Inc. The book was released in June with 25 titles in five popular romance subgenres – contemporary, romantic suspense, paranormal, historical and spicy.
So put down the 50 Shades and Harlequin for a while and get some island romance in your life!
