Jamaican dancehall sensation Popcaan has had a very productive summer. Apart from doing multiple concerts across the Caribbean, North America and Europe he has been chatting up with Canadian rapper and international superstar, Drake.
Popcaan has been in constant contact with Drake, since Drake’s team was in discussions with him before his Caribana performance. The discussions surrounded an invitation that was sent to Popcaan to attend the third annual OVO Fest.
OVO Fest is hosted by Drake every year for his fans in his home town, Toronto. The concert which was held on August 5 this year, featured big names such as Trinidadia-born rapper Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Snoop Dog, 2Chainz, The Weekend and Meek Millz.
Drake is a lover of dancehall music, having collaborated and becoming close friends with Mavado. Now he’s showing love to Popcaan. In the past, he has even taken to twitter to tweet a few lyrics from Popcaan’s songs. Drake has an excellent knowledge of all dancehall slangs as a result of his admiration for Popcaan.
Though Popcaan didn’t perform at the OVO Fest, he still got an opportunity to meet Drake backstage and to make an appearance with him at a few parties held afterwards.
The duo have also spoken about a possible collaboration in the near future.
