Talent is one of the major components of final night and the girls are all working towards their own masterpieces.
One of the surprises of this year’s pageant is the arrival of Miss St. Lucia.
When one hears of St Lucia, you think of sandy beaches, honeymooners paradise, exotic sulfur basins, La Soufriere volcano and a rich, warm and friendly Caribbean nation, where everyone knows everyone. This year, St Lucia’s delegate will be flown in directly from her homeland.
Who best to represent St. Lucia but the famous Miss Decembre Snowe.
This six feet tall beauty is no stranger to pageants. She has participated in Miss Diva World in Trinidad, dominating the best talent and best interview segments. She was also first runner up in the Miss Galaxy World Pageant held in Barbados last year.
A make up artist and paralegal by trade and profession, Miss Snowe credits her best friend for her motivation and good fortune. She has the full support of her family and is super excited to be in NYC to meet the other contestants and to spend time with her native St. Lucians.
Her pet peeves are discrimination of any kind and should she win the coveted crown she hopes to make use of her platform as an advocate to put an end to discrimination and to educate people on HIV and AIDS.
Snowe is currently single and is focused on her career. She is looking forward to hosting a talk show in the coming few months in St Lucia, the first of its kind. Miss St Lucia says she is spiritual and words that best describe her are intelligent and ambitious. Her secret fear is failure. Her secret passion is shoes!
Meet Miss Jamaica representative, Detoxx Bustiae.
A member of the imperial court, Miss Jamaica is the youngest participant in this year’s pageant. This feisty, fun-filled young lady credits her affiliaton with the imperial court for her sense of style and creativity.
At age twenty, she hopes to pursue a career in public relations. Miss Bustiae, despises discrimination and considers herself a fighter for the underdog. She loves make up artistry and fashion and also considers herself a “fashionista.”
Miss Jamaica looks past the divisions of sexual orientation and bigotry and embraces all. Although she will readily agree it exists, she prefers to look at the glass half empty. Her sense of optimism and patriotism is real and says even though she knows Jamaica has a history of rampant homophobia, she still lives in the hope that it will change. She loves the Pussy Cat Dolls and is a fan of Ru Paul’s Drag Show, which she hopes of being a contestant on one day.
Words that best describe her are energetic, respectful and supportive.
Miss Jamaica brings a sense of youthfulness to the pageant, however she assures that her experience and style will be a formidable force on final night.
