The stage is set for the 2012 Gay Caribbean USA Pageant which is slated for Saturday 29th, September from 8pm at Restoration Plaza – 1368 Fulton Street in Brooklyn, NY.
While the contestants are getting ready to battle for the coveted crown, the reigning Queen will be watching with keen eyes. So will the many who will gather to enjoy the event, especially the large heterosexual community who make up the larger part of the audience.
Today, I am honored to introduce you to the Queen of the Gay Caribbean who was delighted to speak with me about her previous insecurities, her reign and hopes for the pageant.
Theosha Toppings confesses that upon entering the Gay Caribbean USA Pageant, she did not believe that she would have won the coveted crown. Maybe she was unable to foresee her victory because of low self-esteem or as a result of not viewing herself as a strong entertainer.
However, now that she sits supreme as the 2011 Queen of the Gay Caribbean USA, Theosha admits that the pageant has boosted her self-esteem in more ways than one. In addition, she also credits her Barbados based mother who serves as her biggest fan and supporter for strengthening her self-esteem. Today, Theosha is ready for the road ahead.
The Caribbean Queen says that she had an amazing reign. She had the opportunity to travel to the Bahamas to participate in the Miss Drag Bahamas Pageant. She won and later returned to adjudicate a similar event.
Miss Gay Caribbean USA recognizes the stability and long arm of this pageant system. Upon winning, she was called up to host events and functions which brought her further recognition and joy.
Currently, she is preparing for the Miss Gay Universe Pageant which will be held in Toronto in October of 2012.

Theosha celebrates the huge potential of the Gay Caribbean USA Pageant and admits that she wants to continue her affiliation with the movement. She hopes to mentor future contestants and possibly judge and host the pageant.
