Tia Mowry is loving her new short haircut but the actress has confesses that she actually cried during the big chop!

The Hollywood actress of Bahamian heritage recently showed off her brand new look on the red carpet for the 4th Annual Give & Get Fete, sponsored by Style Network (Tia & Tamera) in Beverly Hills.

For most women with long natural hair that decide to go short, the liberating hairstyle can be a heartbreaking process. When asked why she decided to cut her hair, she responded:

I really think I’m a new person. My son is fifteen months now, I am not the person I was before. I have a new perspective on life now and it’s because of him. I wanted to do something that represented that as well. So I think cutting my air is a new fresh, it’s starting off new. That’s what I feel like, that I have a new lease on life.

I feel like with hair, comes a lot of experiences and emotion, and I needed to just let things go and get rid of a lot of things. I was by myself with my hairstylist, watching the Kardashians believe it or not, and hair was all over the floor. I was like, ‘Oh My God’ and I started to cry. You never know how attached you are to your hair and that’s another thing that I am learning, not to be so attached to things. Material things. I’m really into yoga and it’s not really about that. It’s about letting go of the ego and just appreciating things in life and that is where all of this is coming from.
