UK-based Soca artiste, Ms. Desire, is the only artiste of that genre to be shortlisted for the 2013 MTV Brand New Unsigned artiste award.
The nomination process includes 20 top acts and the artistes with the most votes will be put through to a panel of MTV Music Experts who will pick an overall winner.
Ms Desire’s music is fresh, unique and infectious. With her distinctive sound and attention-capturing style, she has been dominating in the UK and prepares to impact the world globally with her music.

‘Breaking Out’ in 2011, 2012 has only seen Louise ‘Ms. Desire’ Sterling-Jackman soaring to newer heights.
For the second consecutive year, the Double Award-Winning International Artiste and now the new UK Groovy Soca Monarch 2012 Ms. Desire has been invited to take the stage at the Berlin Carnival and again she left the crowd desiring more.
Launching on to the soca scene back in 2008 with her sweet groovy track ‘Control it’ and her power soca ‘Move’, this year having worked with Producer and Mentor Anderson ‘Blood’ Armstrong (Barbados) once more, she debuted in 2012 releasing ‘Gimme Gimme’ for the Barbados Crop Over 2012 season. Now featured on the second soca album produced by Blood, Ms. Desire’s popularity is on the rise not only in her birthplace of the United Kingdom but in her adopted home Barbados, her mother’s homeland. Also released this year, Ms. Desire has ‘Ready fuh dis’ produced by Monstapiece Studios (Barbados) and ‘Superman’ a collaboration with Kirk Brown (Barbados) produced by Soca Child 360 (UK) and mastered by Michael ‘Broca’ Holder (Barbados).
Ms. Desire was at Trinidad Carnival 2012, Berlin Carnival 2012, Barbados’ Crop Over 2012 and has her sights set on taking Trinidad Carnival 2013 by storm; as she is soon set to release her new groovy track ‘Give it to Me’ produced by the infamous Precision Productions.
With a solid musical background having studied at the United Kingdom’s most renowned Performing Arts’ schools “NLPAC” and “Sylvia Young”, Ms. Desire has some formal training and possesses the intangible tools of passion, creativity and innovation. Not only able to captivate an audience with her voice, Ms. Desire also a fantastic Song-writer being invited to Atlanta by Kevin Shine who worked alongside R-Kelly for a writing session in association with Jive Records.
Ms Desire has shared the stage with the best of the best including Machel Montano, Alison Hinds, Destra Garcia and Edwin Yearwood. She was also one of the stellar acts which performed for the Queen for her Golden Jubilee. She has been on major event cards in the United Kingdom, Europe and Barbados and has no plans of slowing down or stopping. She is committed to the art form.
Ms. Desire has a growing international fan base. Devoted to promoting soca music, she hosts her own show ‘Desire’s World’, on BEN TV, Sky Channel 184 which has a viewership of in excess of 1’000’000. In 2011 while on her UK tour with six dates and six sold out venues, she sold in excess of 2’500 copies of her debut album ‘Breaking Out’ and has plans for more touring in the future.
Ms Desire already branded as the “Soca Songstress” intends to take the soca music industry to another level. With a motto, ‘desire and aspire’ she asks, “Why have the sky as the limit, when you could leave footprints on the moon?”
