Fresh off the media storm circulating his birthday photo, Wyclef Jean will join ABC’s country music drama Nashville for a recurring role as a the head of a record label, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jean also tweeted the above picture alongside cast members Sam Palladio, Clare Bowen, Jonathan Jackson and Rya Kihlstedt. Though he’ll appear in multiple episodes, there’s no word yet on when Jean’s character will debut.
Nashville follows Connie Britton as Rayna James, an aging country star who’s asked to play nice with the rising young singer Juliette Barnes, played by Hayden Panettiere, after her latest record fails to meet the expectations of her record label’s owners.
Hmmm…I wonder if the birthday pic was just hype for this news?

Wyclef Jean seems like a cool addition to Nashville. I had a few coworkers at DISH remind me that Jean’s music success goes all the way back to the Fugees. Nashville is definitely a new staple show for its PrimeTime lineup. I’ll watch it all. I don’t have to set any timers for the show, too, because my Hopper auto-records the big 4 networks during their PrimeTime hours with its PrimeTime Anytime feature. The less hassle, the more time I have to actually enjoy what TV has to offer during this time of year. Cheers to a drama with good music.
